The folk music scene in Southern Ontario in the early 70s was one of those fortunate confluences of people and opportunities. London's Smale's Pace (located at 436 Clarence Street) and later Change of Pace (on Talbot Street with proprietors Carl & Annie Grindstaff) nurtured a string of songwriters such as we are unlikely to see again. Writers and performers like Stan Rogers, Colleen Peterson, Willie P. Bennett, Bill Hughes, Michael Lewis (all now passed on), along with David Bradstreet, Laura Smith, Garnet Rogers, David Essig, Doug McArthur, Paul Mills, Rick Taylor, Valdy, Brent Titcomb, Bob Burchill, Cedric Smith, Terry Jones, Richard Keelan (the last four, part of Perth County Conspiracy) and more, brought Southern Ontario alive with their music. This very special concert brought seven of these folks together to swap songs and stories. Artists that performed were David Bradstreet, Doug McArthur, Paul Mills, Rick Taylor, Bob Burchill, Brent Titcomb, & David Woodhead. Individual accomplishments of these artists are much too long to list here. The evening was hosted by John Smale.
